Stewart Run caused flooding of roads near Oak Forest. About 3 hours later, flooding from Ten Mile Creek was reported in Waynesburg. Houses and businesses were flooded in Lincoln, Elm, and First streets. Other roads flooded: Routes 19, 21, and 218. At 5 PM, children were stuck inside school since there was only one way out of Waynesburg. They was able to escape after 6:30 PM and went home uninjured. Total of 389 houses and businesses damaged in Waynesburg, Oak Forest, and Rogersville, and throughout Greene County. People at 41 locations had to be evacuated for their own safety.
NWS Pittsburgh storm damage team confirmed that a tornado did occur in Greene County on the evening of August 1, 2022. ||Damage was first noted off Morris Run Rd, just east of Highway|21 in Greene County and approximately 3 miles ESE of Graysville|PA. The tornado primarily affected trees as it moved southeast|between 735 PM and 741 PM. As the tornado crossed Morris Run Rd,|it caused a barn to collapse, with debris blown to the property|across the road. The tornado continued to uproot trees as it|traveled southeast, and it also removed siding from a house.|Several hardwood trees were uprooted as the tornado approached|Scott Run Rd. Additionally, a camper was flipped over adjacent to|where it was parked. Only a few trees were down on the other side|of Scott Run Rd, likely where the tornado lifted.
EF1 tornado confirmed. A tornado touched down on the border of Gilmore and Wayne Townships along Holy Hill Rd. Tree damage was observed with several softwood trees snapped at the trunk. The tornado moved east-southeast and took nearly the entire roof off of a house. It also tore the entire deck off, which was attached with metal straps. A piece of the deck became a projectile and was driven into the windshield of a car. The winds moved a 35 pound battery about 20 yards. The tornado continued down a valley and eventually lifted near Oak Forest Rd. In the valley, numerous hardwood trees were snapped at the trunk, and some of them were uprooted.
