Several thunderstorms with heavy rain caused flash flooding in central portions of Huntingdon County. In Smithfield and Juniata Townships, there was a report of a 200 yard wide area of geological subsidence due to a rockslide. Numerous roads were flooded and closed, with basement flooding and some road erosion. Route 22 was flooded. Two bridges were impacted with debris. The debris caused a diversion of a stream into a home which suffered moderate damages. Numerous road closures and basement flooding was also reported in Walker and Union townships. In Walker Township, Hartslog Valley Road, Station Road, Pond Road and Route 26 were closed due to flooding. In total, about 120 homes reported basement flooding.
A National Weather Service storm survey team confirmed a tornado near Richvale in Huntingdon County Pennsylvania on April 19 2019.||The tornado touched down approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Richvale along Shade Valley Road and progressed northeastward up the valley.||Along the path of the tornado, there were numerous trees snapped or uprooted, and there was sporadic damage to barns and the roofs of homes. The most significant damage, which was at the high end of an EF1 rating, occurred just north of the intersection of Shade Valley Road and Zion Road, where a barn was destroyed and numerous pine trees were snapped or uprooted.||The tornado tore the roof off of a church shortly before lifting just south of the intersection of Shade Valley Road and Allison Road. Peak winds were estimated at 110 mph.
A severe thunderstorm, producing wind gusts estimated near 95 mph, uprooted and snapped numerous trees in Rothrock State Forest. The most concentrated damage as a result of this downburst snapped three to four dozen trees in a densely forested area, with a combination of softwood pines and hardwood oaks.
