Logan County was hit with winds estimated near 100 mph, torrential rain and hail. The combination of wind and hail flattened corn and wheat fields, overturned and damaged irrigation systems, damaged buildings, snapped off power poles and uprooted large trees. A tractor-semitrailer was overturned on Highway 83. An airplane and hangar were destroyed. Over fifty windmills were toppled or damaged in Logan, Thomas and Hooker Counties. Damage was estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Empty 5th wheel camper was blown over and pushed into the corner of a home causing damage to the siding and a roof overhang. An anchored wooden swing set was also blown over. Basket ball hope with a weighted base blown 20 yards.
This tornado formed 21 miles north northeast of North Platte in Lincoln County and entered Logan County about 6 miles southwest of Stapleton at 1635 CST. The tornado then continued for another 2 miles, briefly lifting after moving across the county line, and dissipating 4 miles southwest of Stapleton at 1639 CST. In Logan County scattered tree damage occurred to include damage to a tree wind break line and a center pivot irrigation system sustained damaged to three sections before the tornado dissipating. While in Lincoln and Logan counties the tornado was rated an EF0. Average path width in Logan County was 20 yards.
