A tree on CR 400 S and 600 W fell down and trapped a 62 year old man who was trying to make it back to his vehicle after fishing in the reservoir. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Three to over four inches of rain fell over a period of a few hours, resulting in road closures and water into many businesses in and around the Bippus area. The rain subsided into the early morning hours of the 15th. However, flooding problems persisted well into the daylight hours. A portion of State Route 16 was washed out during the overnight hours near State Route 105, two miles south of Bippus, as flood waters continued to flow and recede. A NWS Cooperative Observer reported 4.5 inches of rain just south of Huntington.
Several trees and power lines were blown down from just west of Huntington to 7 miles east of Huntington. A couple dozen houses as well as several vehicles were damaged by falling trees. A 4-H pavilion was heavily damaged. Damage is estimated at $200,000.
