A public report 4 miles north northwest of Meacham, OR reported a thunderstorm that was producing 1.5 inch hail stones near exit 234 along I-84 in northeast OR at 1540 PST. A trained spotter 6 miles south southwest of Thorn Hollow, OR also reported hail that ranged in size from 0.75 to 1 inches and accumulated up to 1.5 inches deep at 1540 PST.
Strong thunderstorms rumbled into Umatilla County mid-afternoon. A spotter near Pilot Rock reported one inch diameter hail, while small hail piled up to a depth of 4 inches at Deadmans Pass on I-84 southeast of Pendleton. In the Athens-Weston area brief heavy rain resulted in near zero visibility and water flowing over roadways.
