A National Weather Service Survey Team determined that straight line wind damage occurred in portions of Cairo, South Cairo, and Leeds during the early afternoon hours of Sunday July 27th.||Fifty to one hundred pine trees were sheared off along County Route 67 in South Cairo around 1135 LST, with peak winds estimated at 100 mph.||In addition, several trees were uprooted on Rocky Road near South Cairo around 1135 LST, some of which fell through homes. Two homes were badly damaged. Peak winds were estimated between 100 and 110 mph.||Numerous trees were also downed in a fan like pattern on Mclaren Road in South Cairo around 1143 LST. Peak estimated winds were 115 to 125 mph.||Farm equipment was also overturned on Pine Farm, located on Pine Lane in Cairo around 1149 LST. Peak estimated winds were 115 to 125 mph.
A severe thunderstorm produced localized straight-line wind damage about 1 mile east of Earlton along New York Route 81. Wind descended down a hill south of Route 81 and moved north-northeastward across the road. Damage consisted of numerous snapped or uprooted trees and large branches, a broken metal windmill and the destruction of one tractor shed. Additionally, there was wind damage to the flashing of one house and two other homes were damaged by falling trees. Another house was damaged when a falling tree ripped electrical wires from it which pulled off some siding. Winds were estimated at 85 mph with a path length of one-quarter of a mile and path width of 200 yards.
A National Weather Service storm survey confirmed a microburst started in Coxsackie, and moved across the Hudson River into Stuyvesant. Damage was significant in the village of Coxsackie south and east of the Village Building on Mansion Street. Uprooted and snapped trees were widespread across the damage area. A few homes sustained damage to roofs, chimneys and siding. A state of emergency was declared for the village. The estimated path length was two miles and the estimated width was a half of a mile.
