During the late evening hours of May 6, thunderstorms with torrential rain produced flash flooding across the northeast portion of Greene County. At the Hamlet of New Baltimore, Church Street was washed out and State Highway 144 was closed. Underpasses were flooded in Coxsackie along with many basements.
Training thunderstorms produced very heavy rainfall across eastern portions of Greene County Wednesday afternoon and evening, resulting in flash flooding. State Route 385, or Mansion Street, in Coxsackie was closed due to flash flooding from this heavy rainfall. Several other streets within the village of Coxsackie were also impassable Wednesday evening due to flooding.
Numerous roads were reported closed county-wide due to flooding as small streams overflowed their banks. This included but was not limited to the following: Route 42 in Lexington from County Route 13A to the Ulster County line with two bridges over the West Kill damaged, Route 32 over the Kaaterskill Creek in Catskill and Route 23A over the Kaaterskill Creek in the Town of Hunter.
