A severe thunderstorm dropped a swath of hail across central Hunterdon County. The largest hail (golf ball size) fell in Frenchtown Borough. Quarter size hail fell in Raritan Township. Penny size hail fell in Clinton and Flemington. The worst reported crop damage from the large hail occurred in Pittstown (Franklin Township). Hail bruised about 80 percent of the tomato crop that the 17th annual Great Tomato Tasting Contest was cancelled.
