Widespread flash flooding occurred in Hunterdon County with numerous road closures. There were over 300 water rescues in the county. A total of six flood related fatalities were reported, one in Milford, one in East Amwell Township, and four in Raritan Township. Many buildings and homes were damaged by the flood waters. Most waterways in the county overflowed their banks, including the South Branch of the Raritan River, the Neshanic River and Spruce Run.
Thunderstorms with heavy downpours caused flash flooding in and around Clinton Township. Several roadways were flooded and a couple of vehicles became trapped in high waters. No serious injuries were reported. Event precipitation totals within Hunterdon County included 3.56 inches in Lebanon, 2.95 inches in Stockton, 2.93 inches in Clinton and 2.75 inches in Franklin Township.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain caused flash flooding of the Beaver Brook in downtown Clinton during the early morning of the 2nd. Leigh and Main Streets flooded around 4 a.m. EDT. The back of five buildings were flooded on Leigh Street. A restaurant on East Main Street suffered minimal flood damage. Two police vehicles were also flooded and damaged. The flood waters receded by 6 a.m. EDT and all roads were reopened. Storm totals from northern Hunterdon County included 4.78 inches in Califon, 3.27 inches in Annandale and 3.11 inches in High Bridge.
