Hail reached as large as 3.5 inches in diameter. This hail was accompanied by wind gusts estimated to be near 70 MPH. Several reports of shattered windows and damaged siding were received from this wind-driven hail. Vehicle damage was reported, including from the Emergency Manager who experienced that largest hail and strongest wind on Highway 10 east of Hazard.
Quarter to golf ball size hail fell from a nearly stationary storm in the Ashton area. The actual duration of hail was likely at least several minutes, but ground-truth duration details were not available for any particular location.
