Several rounds of thunderstorms dumped 7 to 12 inches of rain over the metro area. Numerous streets, apartment complexes and businesses were flooded. Two to three feet of water covered streets and front yards in north Jackson. Some people had to be evacuated along Martin Luther King Drive due to the high water.
A quick deluge, about 3 inches in less than 1 hour, occurred across a portion of South Jackson during the evening of the 15th. This locally intense rainfall caused about 20 homes to flood along Archer Ave. Additionally, several roads in this area were flooded by 1-2 feet of water which caused the roads to temporarily closed.
Swift water rescues occurred on Content Street. Camelot Apartments were flooded and multiple rescues occurred. Close to a foot of water was across Ridgewood Road at Jackson Academy. High Street was barricaded due to high water. Presidential Hills was flooded and had no access due to flood waters. Parts of Industrial Drive near Hawkins Field was underwater.
