A significant flash flood event occurred during the mid and late morning of June 19th. Seven to ten inches of rain fell in a 2 to 3 hour time frame. Numerous roads in the county and city were flooded by several feet of water. One county road was washed out. Nearly a dozen vehicles were submerged or trapped by the flood water with several water rescues needed. Nearly 20 homes were flooded, several apartments, 8 businesses and one fire station.
Flash flooding in mainly western Grenada County impacted 13 homes and 2 public buildings. Multiple mobile homes along MS Highway 8 were flooded, and several homes were flooded along Scott Road with rescues conducted for trapped residents in that area. Approximately 17 roads were covered with water, including a few within the city of Grenada.
A series of thunderstorms, which produced several rounds of heavy rain, moved across the county and caused road and street flooding. This rain event lasted for a long time as multiple rounds of heavy rain caused the flooding to linger from the afternoon hours until the morning hours of the 28th.
