Numerous trees and power lines along Tyler Street and nearby parallel streets between 19th Avenue and 23rd Avenue were knocked down by thunderstorm winds. Two vehicles and one residence were damaged by the falling trees. In one of the vehicles crushed by falling trees, one of the occupants was killed and another seriously injured.
A cluster of thunderstorms moving east-southeast at 35 mph uprooted many trees 5 miles northeast of Covington. According to the St. Tammany Emergency Management Director a mobile home was heavily damaged by a large fallen tree and 4 other mobile homes received some minor wind damage. In addition, a single family home was heavily damaged by another large fallen tree about 5 miles northeast of Covington. Numerous trees were blown down and a roof was blown off from a barn near Talisheek around 1435 CST.
Thunderstorm wind gusts blew down approximately 25 trees in a Mandeville subdivision. An auto service station also had its service canopy blown off by wind gusts. A small truck was damaged by the downed canopy. A wind gust of 54 knots was recorded at the automated wind gage at the north approach to the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
