A lightning strike destroyed a home in New Hope and killed the family's dog. It was believed that lightning initially struck the home's chimney before spreading. Four fire companies responded to the blaze. No injuries were reported.
A lightning strike and ensuing fire heavily damaged four units of the Orangewood Apartments off of Mill Creek Road in the Violetwood section of Levittown in Bristol Township. The fire spread along the roof and attic portions of the two story apartment building. Four families were displaced. Approximately 500 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in Bucks County between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. EDT.
A lightning strike caused a four alarm fire at the Windsor at Harper's Crossing Apartment Complex in Langhorne (Middletown Township). Eight apartments were badly damaged and sixteen others had smoke and water damage. Thirty people were displaced from their apartments as the Red Cross assisted them in finding alternative shelter. Five fire fighters and a police officer were injured battling the blaze.
