Nickel sized hail was reported by a cocorahs observer in the city of Goldsboro. The observer also estimated the max wind gust produced by the storm to be near 50 miles per hour and reported 0.78 inches of rain fell in 30 minutes.
A thunderstorm became severe as it moved over the Goldsboro/Seymour Johnson Air Force Base producing 1 inch hail and a wind gust of 60 mph. Several 8 inch diameter trees were blown down. Winds of 60 mph were also reported in Dudley where trees were also downed.
