Quarter size hail occurred throughout the city of Kingston. The hail accumulated to a depth of 1 to 2 inches on the ground in some areas.||Nickel size hail also occurred within the town of Ulster, located approximately 2 miles north of Kingston, at nearly the same time.
Golf ball size hail was reported in Esopus during a thunderstorm.||The large hail led to the destruction of tree fruits, berries, and vegetables near Esopus, and across several other locations across Ulster County. Preliminary total damage estimates due to hail in Ulster County was near 16.6 million.
