The second HP supercell also produced large hail, this report was near baseball size, about the size that fell the previous hour. The large hail broke a few car windows and damaged the siding of several houses in the area.
Hail up to golf ball-size fell in and near the Elgin area. The wind driven hail broke windows and damaged siding in the area, and also caused vehicle and tree damage. Crops in the region were also heavily damaged. This storm also produced a tornado south of the region.
Hail, some estimated around quarter-size, was accompanied by thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at over 60 mph. Enough hail fell that it lasted on the ground well into the evening hours. The hail and wind caused some vehicle and structure damage in the area.
