Flooding occurred on several streets north of Brandon, including: Woodlands Drive, Avalon Way, Hugh Ward Boulevard, Pine Cone Cove, Glensview Drive, West Pinebrook Drive, Bradford Drive, Bellegrove Circle, and Castlewoods Boulevard near Lakeland Drive. Both Castlewoods and Mill Creek subdivisions evacuated people and roughly 30 homes had water in them.
Significant flooding occurred from Richland to Florence as eight to ten inches of rain fell in three to four hours. In Richland, flood damage occurred to 95 houses, 35 trailers, 26 businesses, and 12 apartment units. One bridge sustained damage. In Florence, a total of 45 homes and businesses were damaged by flood waters. Flood waters entered several apartment units, and two churches received several feet of water. Numerous roads had to be closed due to the flooding, including portions of Highway 49 in the Florence area.
Several roads were under water, a few with several feet of water crossing them across central portions of Rankin County. A few homes were being threatened just northeast of Brandon off Trickhambridge Road. The flooding rains were a combination of 2 to 3 inches during the morning hours and an additional 2 to 3 inches shortly after midnight. Rainfall totals across Rankin County ranged from 4 to 5 inches.
