Widespread significant tree damage due to thunderstorm wind gusts across the southern half of Terre Haute into the Ivy Tech campus area. Numerous homes and cars were damaged by falling trees. Several large billboards were collapsed by the strong winds which further caused property damage.
Trees were downed in and near this location due to damaging thunderstorm wind gusts. There were reports of some trees on homes and vehicles. Also, WTHI-TV reported that a large business sign was lifted of its structure and tossed about 20 feet into the business' roof.
Thunderstorm winds blew down a large tree onto a Toyota Corolla on 16th Street near Sixth Avenue, collapsing the roof and smashing windows. The hardest hit areas were north and east of Terre Haute. High winds broke utility poles and caused problems with some major transmission lines.
