A persistent rainy pattern across Dixie county brought rainfall amounts in excess of foot during the first 12 days of the month. This rainfall fell on already saturated grounds and resulted in significant, long duration areal flooding across the county. Many roads were closed, and some homes were impacted. Damage cost was estimated.
The Dixie County Times newspaper reported that lightning struck a home off Camp Street in Cross City, which resulted in a fire that destroyed the home, motorcycle, RV, and car. The monetary damage figure provided is a rough estimate.
Thunderstorm winds lifted a roof off a shopping center at State Road 55 and County Road 349 in Old Town. Trees and power lines down with scattered power outages and debris littered over numerous county roads near Jena, Cross City and Horseshoe Beach. Hardest hit was Munden Camp in Suwannee where large trees were uprooted and tossed against buildings. One home was destroyed, two homes sustained major damage, and 10 homes and a business received minor damage. Reported by the Dixie County EMA.
