A creek running under County Road 224 east of Water Valley eroded the ground under the road. The roadbed was left intact. A vehicle drove over the compromised road, causing the roadbed to collapse. The vehicle fell into the creek and the driver had to be pulled out. Several mobile homes were flooded along Oklahoma Street in Coffeeville. There was significant flooding on Central Street in Water Valley. In total, six homes and three roads were impacted.
The tornado first developed just south of Highway 315 in the community of Hawkins Crossing and moved northeast across the northeast corner of Yalobusha county. The tornado continued into southwest Lafayette county and continued to travel northeast ending in Union county. One home was blown three feet off its foundation with only the west facing wall left standing. Two mobile homes were completely destroyed. Nine other homes and one barn recieved moderate to extensive damage.
Straight line winds uprooted trees and power poles in the small community of Oakland. One large oak tree fell onto a pickup truck on Holly Street. Oakland Heights Manor, an elderly apartment complex, suffered roof damage when a large oak tree fell onto the building. Four central air conditioning units were also damage on the property.
