Lightning struck a home in Nobleboro and ignited a fire that destroyed the home. A homeowner was home at the time and reported sparks throughout the kitchen area. The fire spread rapidly throughout the structure and destroyed the home. Damage was estimated at 1.5 million dollars.
The Sheepscot River came out of banks and flooded portions of High Tide Road or Route 194 just south of Hollywood Boulevard. Floodwaters were up to the foundations of a few homes. The river crested at 8.56 feet around 6 PM on the evening of May 1. Floodwaters damaged Route 194.
Heavy rain caused serious county-wide flooding of small rivers and streams throughout Lincoln County. Some of the most extensive damage occurred in the towns of Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Jefferson, Newcastle, and Waldoboro. The most damage was reported in Waldoboro where there was $55,300.00 in flood damage.
