A thunderstorm became severe and dropped large hail across central Johnson County, including along Interstate 25. A trained spotter 13 miles SSE of Buffalo reported golf ball sized hail and had two windows and a skylight broken by the hail. A farm along Trabing Road reported broken windows, truck mirrors and damaged siding on a house and barn.
Golf ball sized and larger hail fell at a ranch east of Kaycee along State Highway 192. The largest stones were 3 inches in diameter. The large hail broke windows and screens, cracked a few windshields, and caused minor damage to ranch buildings.
A near severe thunderstorm moved south-southeast across southern Johnson County. Ranchers reported hail up to the size of nickels. Heavy rain caused minor flooding at ranches around Mayoworth. Several hay and barley fields were damaged due to the combination of hail and rain. Other damage included broken camper windows and rear-view mirrors.
