Scattered showers and thunderstorms produced rainfall amounts between 3.00 inches and 4.50 inches in a couple of hours across portions of Williamsburg. This rainfall caused minor street flooding at Settler's Market Road in the New Town Community and on Colonial Parkway at the Williamsburg Visitor's Center.
Heavy rains associated with Hurricane Irene produced widespread low-land flooding across much of the county, including roadways which were washed out or closed. Storm total rainfall generally ranged from six to eleven inches.
