Thunderstorm winds blew thousands of trees and branches down across the county. There were numerous reports of power lines being taken down by the wind or by falling trees or branches. Structural damage occurred to numerous homes that had trees fall on them. Parked vehicles also suffered damage when trees fell on them. One indirect fatality occurred when the driver of a motorcycle crashed into a tree being removed from a road hours after the event. Damage values are estimated.
Several large trees and numerous large tree limbs were blown down by thunderstorm winds across Montgomery County. One tree was snapped in half, with the top falling onto a home. Roofing shingles were also blown off of several homes. In the town of Christiansburg, a metal shed was blown roughly 100 yards from its original location.
A small microburst occurred impacting two properties within the 1800 block of Mt. Tabor Road. For the first property, a very large shed/barn completely collapsed. For the second property, the winds pulled barn doors from the hinges and a large piece of landscaping material which was held down by bricks went missing. Damage values are estimated.
