A NWS survey found a 2.5 mile wide swath of straight line wind damage across the south side of Pennington Gap, VA. Wind speeds were estimated between 70 and 90 mph. Numerous trees were blown down and minor structural damage occurred in, and south of, Pennington Gap. Roof damage at Elk Knob Elementary led to minor water damage within the school.
