Severe wind gusts up to 52 knots (60 miles per hour) produced widespead damage across the City of Chesapeake. The most significant damage occurred near the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Greenbrier where numerous trees were downed. Roof damage was also sustained by four houses along Nottaway Drive. An airport hanger at the Chesapeake Regional Airport was also destroyed.
A severe storm impacted the Chesapeake Regional Airport damaging several aircraft. Four airplanes were dislodged from the tie down spaces while other aircraft sustained damage of varying degrees. The airport suffered minimal damage. The Luscombe was tossed into the maintenance hanger door and disabled the opening and closing mechanism.
Several trees were either snapped off at the top or blown over. Also, the wall of a barn was blown down and the roof collapsed. Some roof damage was observed to other farm structures as well as a tree blown across the roof of a residence.
