The Carroll County Emergency Management Director reported that five buildings were damage and several trees sere down approximately three miles northwest of Hillsville. A storage shed was pushed into one of the buildings. An adjacent camper sustained damage from the building debris. The damage was determined to have been caused by a microburst.
Thunderstorm winds blew down several road signs into vehicles, took a canopy off a gas station, knocked down at least two power poles, downed trees along Old Galax Pike, and caused damage to at least one small barn. Damage values are estimated.
Seven inches of rain fell from thunderstorms associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl. High winds from the storms toppled trees and brought down branches knocking out power to some areas. Roads were flooded and several low bridges from high water. In Cana area of Carroll County, six large trees fell knocking out power to 500 customers.
