Numerous roads were closed across Bedford County and there was significant damage to some roads. A man was rescued by a swift water team from the roof of a van stalled in flood waters from Sycamore Creek along Otterville Road.
Heavy rain, falling at prolonged rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour, caused a tributary of Goose Creek to flood out of its banks several inches deep across Crouch Road. The flooding caused the culvert running beneath the road to fail, making the road impassible until the damage was repaired and the culvert replaced.
Up to two feet of rapidly of flowing water was over the intersection of Hazelwood Terrace and Beagle Club Road along with a small debris flow and small tree pushed into the roadway. Spotter reported 4.32 inches of rain in less than 4 hours at the time of the report. Turner Branch Road in the Blue Ridge area was washed out and closed and a motorist was rescued from the flood waters.
