A strong microburst wind resulted in one death in Utah County. The fatality occurred at a baseball park in Pleasant Grove, when a gust of wind blew a 250-pound portable pitching mound over, striking the 13-year-old boy in the head.
Widespread tree damage county wide. Extensive damag to roofs in South Provo, downtown Provo, and Springville. Line of power poles snapped along 1600w in Provo. Damage estimates from UDOT and regional private insurance claims.
Strong thunderstorm winds developed in Provo, with the Provo airport AWOS recording a peak wind gust of 59 mph. The most significant wind damage was a roof that was torn off of an apartment building. In addition, some smaller trees were knocked down, and hundreds of tree branches were downed.
