A peak wind gust of 70 MPH was measured by the automated weather station at the Canyonlands Regional Airport near Moab. As a result of the strong winds, 5 to 6 power lines were broken off just south of the Canyonlands Airport near Blue Hills Road.
The Bryson Canyon RAWS station recorded a gust to 60 mph in association with a passing line of thunderstorms. To the south, the KCNY ASOS at Canyonlands Airport recorded a gust to 54 mph in association with this same line. No reports of damages, injuries, or fatalities were reported with this storm.
A thunderstorm that formed over the higher terrain south and west of Canyonlands Airport in eastern Utah eventually drifted over the adjacent lower terrain. As it did so, it produced two wind gusts to 58 mph, in addition to wind gusts of lower values. These gusts were recorded at KCNY ASOS at Canyonlands Airport, 16 miles northwest of Moab. No reports of damages or injuries were received.
