During the evening and early nighttime hours two severe thunderstorms moved across Arlington producing golf ball- to softball-size hail, mainly across Arlington south of Interstate 20 and east of Highway 287. Seventy City vehicles were damaged and at least 500 homes had roof,damage. The Buzz Post Pontiac dealership had 1200 vehicles damaged. Total damage for south Arlington is at least 10 million dollars.
Golf ball to baseball sized hail damaged many aircraft at DFW International Airport. Around 110 aircraft from various airlines were damaged, but the airport was not damaged. The impacts from the storm affected air travel for several days after the event due to the damage done to the aircraft.
Golfball sized hail fell for several minutes in Grapevine. The hail damaged many cars parked outside at DFW International Airport. In addition, about 50 American Airlines airplanes and three other large planes were damaged by the hail.
