Quarter size hail was reported again by local law enforcement officials in Balmorhea at 00:45 CST. Damage did not result from either of the severe storms to strike Balmorhea during the late evening of the 2nd and the early morning of the 3rd.
Multiple reports were received of large hail up to the size of quarters as a cluster of severe thunderstorms affected central Reeves County. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported quarter size hail in Pecos at 15:20 CST. Nickel size hail was reported in Toyah at 15:53 CST, and penny size hail was reported at the Pecos Airport at 15:55 CST. No damage was reported to be associated with the hail.
Quarter to half dollar size hail accumulated to a depth of three inches along U.S. Highway 285 northwest of that highway's intersection with Texas Highway 302. The hail was discovered more than an hour after the storm passed this location, so the actual size of the falling hail was likely larger than indicated. Event time is based on radar.
