Heavy rain from thunderstorms fell across northeast Mitchell County and produced flash flooding. A pickup truck was found washed off the I-20 feeder road at North Fork Champion Creek. The water line on the bridge suggested the water was near 10 feet deep over the feeder road at one point. The cost of damage is a very rough estimate.
Heavy rain moved over Mitchell County and produced flash flooding six miles south of Westbrook. Stranded vehicles were reported as a result of this flooding. The cost of damage is a very rough estimate. The crop damage is estimated to be zero since there were no reports of any crop damage. There were no reports of injuries.
A local radio station relayed a report of flash flooding that affected a rural homestead in southwestern Mitchell County. Local residents reported that more than two inches of rain fell in a short period of time. This resulted in high water that briefly threatened a home.
