Numerous sources reported hail up to the size of golf balls associated with a second severe thunderstorm that tracked from the Travelers Rest/Tigerville/Taylors area to Greer. The storm followed a very similar path to the first one and again caused significant damage to structures and vehicles.
Up to quarter size hail fell along the Roper Mountain Extension. The National Severe Storms Lab relayed a public report of quarter size hail off Miller Rd, 2 miles northeast of Mauldin. Also, a HAM radio operator reported quarter size hail on Barrett Rd near Mauldin.
A line of severe thunderstorms produced a swath of large hail between the towns of Welcome and Travelers Rest in the western part of the county, eastward to the Spartanburg County line around Greer. Numerous reports of hail to the size of golf balls were received. The area of large hail was about 10 miles wide in the western part of the county and narrowed down to about 5 miles in the east. No dollar estimates were available, but there was considerable damage to cars and roofs.
