Emergency Manager reported trees down around the county and in the town of Chesterfield. Some trees fell on vehicles and a few on homes. A garage door was ripped off a building and blown 300 yds away. Street flooding also occurred.
The final downburst occurred between Wallace Road and Stage Coach Road just west of |Cheraw State Park. The damage occurred between 3:15 pm and 3:17 pm. Winds gusts|were estimated to range from 85 to 95 mph. There were several large pine trees and|hardwood trees that were snapped or uprooted along Stage Coach Road. Large trees|fell near two homes, but did not produce any damage. A large pine tree fell near one|home, but damaged an aluminum carport.
The second downburst occurred along and south of Highway 9 near the town of Ruby to |Highway 145 south of the town of Chesterfield. The damage occurred between 2:35 pm |and 2:48 pm EDT. Wind gusts were estimated to range from 80 to 90 mph. There were|several trees downed or uprooted in the town of Ruby. A large pine tree was uprooted|and fell adjacent to a large home in Ruby. Some of the limbs damaged the roof, gable|and wooden siding on the home. Three medium size pine trees fell on two vehicles just|off of Jack Turner Lane. One of the trees just brushed a Jeep. The other two trees|produced some damage as they landed on a Dodge. The trees fell just short of the|house on the property. There was additional tree damage along Bill Brown Lane, and|Center Point Road.
