What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
Numerous trees were blown down across the county. The wind was not directly associated with a thunderstorm over the county, but was the result of an outflow boundary from a storm complex over the Midlands and east central Georgia.
Fifteen to eighteen roads were blocked by fallen trees in and around the city of Abbeville. There were also quite a few power outages due to trees and limbs falling on lines in the city. Trees were also downed up to 5 miles east of town where the skirting was blown off of a mobile home.
A second severe thunderstorm complex moved into western upstate counties from Georgia causing areas of wind damage. A barn was blown over near Starr and numerous trees and power lines were blown down from there into northern Abbeville County and across Laurens County.
