Heavy rain produced extensive flooding across York County the afternoon and early evening of June 22nd. Spotter reports indicated that 3 to 5 inch rainfall amounts were common across the county, with a local maximum of 8 inches measured in Loganville. Extensive road flooding was reported, with over 40 roads closed. Four bridges, including Laurel Road Bridge in Chanceford Township, Red Lion Avenue Bridge in Felton, Trinity Road Bridge at Chanceford Township and Dull, and Husson Roads Bridge in Windsor Township were closed. Many roads were damaged, including a 100 foot section of Water Tank Road in Manheim. Two building collapses were also blamed on the weight of the rain. One water rescue was performed when an all terrain vehicle was driven into a swollen Codorus Creek. The individual was rescued without injury. About 25 to 30 people were evacuated from the rural Brogueville and Laurel areas.
Heavy rain from slow moving thunderstorms caused flash flooding in York County. Especially hard hit were areas southeast of East Prospect, and areas northwest of Spring Grove. In Lower Windsor Township, southeast of East Prospect, several basements were flooded and several road intersections were closed. In Jackson Township, numerous roads were under water southwest of Spring Grove. Multiple cars were under water, and a water rescue was performed on Nashville Boulevard. No injuries were reported.
Heavy rain produced significant flash flooding across northern York County. Flooding closed numerous roads in Carrol Township. A water rescue was performed at the intersection of the Gettysburg Pike and Chestnut Street on the Rosegarden underpass, where two vehicles with 4-5 occupants were stranded. Junction Road bridge over the Dogwood Creek was jammed with debris, causing water to spill over the bridge and damage the road/bridge structure. West Siddonsburg Road between Route 15 and Orebank Road was closed due to flooding. A rock slide occurred on Mt. Airy and Ridge Road in Monaghan Township. Significant damage was reported on Guilbert Road between West Siddonsburg Road and Stony Run Road along the Cumberland County line. Route 74 was closed between Campground Road and Williams Grove Road. Fairview and Monaghan Townships each issued disaster declarations for the aftermath of the flooding.
