A large macroburst affected much of Venango County. Damage swath 6 miles long and 2 to 3 miles wide. Hundreds of trees were snapped off or toppled. Many fell onto houses. sheds, and cars. Roofs of several factories were ripped off. Numerous signs and utility poles were blown down. Max wind about 70 mph (61 kt).30,000 customers without electric power.
A microburst, primarily hit Victoria Township near Five Points, with a 70 mph (61 kts) wind gust. Many trees were toppled or snapped. A few trees fell on houses. Power lines were downed. This microburst was one quarter mile wide. Lesser damage extended southward to Clintonville and westward to Barkeyville.
A narrow swath of focused damage was encountered near Palmer Avenue and an adjacent cemetery. A power pole was snapped at a nearby softball field, and substantial tree damage was encountered beginning along Palmer Avenue, where hardwood limbs were snapped, and softwood trees were snapped or uprooted entirely. Damage resembled that of a QLCS mesovortex tornado, but there was insufficient evidence to arrive at a decisive cause.
