At least 30 basements were flooded and 6 roads were closed due to high water and debris as heavy rains hit the area. More than 4 inches fell in some locations, sending the Casselman River out of its banks near Salisbury. The county fairgrounds were inundated with water, putting mud and debris in some of the fair buildings and requiring cleanup prior to the August 19th opening of the event.
Flash flooding led to a swift water rescue in Boynton when an occupied vehicle went into Little Piney Creek at the Route 219 bridge and Post Office Street and floated downstream into the Cassleman River. Rescue operations were set up at the Coal Run Road bridge in Boynton.
Widespread flash flooding across the area. Around 10:30 a.m., Dark Shade Drive and Seanor Roads in Paint Township were shut down to one lane of travel because of flooding. Gardner Road between Bicycle and Dunmyer roads in Quemahoning Township and Water Works Road near Days Inn in Somerset Borough were also closed. Portions of routes 2005, 669 and 2003 in Elk Lick Township also closed.
