A severe thunderstorm caused wind damage in Lansdale Borough and Montgomery Township in Montgomery County. No injuries were reported in spite of the damage. In Lansdale, wind damage occurred around West 8th Street. The roof was completely blown off the shipping building of the Village Handcrafted Cabinetry Company. The severe thunderstorm knocked down a chimney into the kitchen of a home near that building on West 7th Street and Maple Avenue. Water entered the home. Elsewhere in Lansdale, a utility pole was snapped at the West 5th Street Park and a large pine tree was knocked down on North Line Street. In Montgomery Township, about 25 homes suffered wind damage in the Weathersfield Development. Homes on Beacon Court, Essex Court and August Lane bore the brunt of the wind damage. The homes suffered siding and roof shingle damage. Whole trees were knocked down and damaged some vehicles. One home had its windows blown out.
A squall line of showers produced wind damage in Douglass Township. A garage and barn were destroyed on Congo and Linsenbeidler Roads. The roof of a garage was torn off and items within it were damaged. Cinder blocks from the garage were tossed as were bits of lumber and shingles. On Linsenbeidler Road, a pole barn storing a couple of antique automobiles were destroyed as metal scraps fell onto the vehicles. Dozens of shingles and siding were ripped from homes.
A line of severe showers and thunderstorms caused wind damage across Montgomery County. The worst reported damage occurred in Norristown. The wind blew off part of an apartment building roof and forced fourteen residents from their apartments. The roof landed on a car dealership. Downed trees closed roads for up to two days in Upper Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove and West Conshohocken. Numerous trees were knocked down in Lower Merion Township. A wind gust to 65 mph was measured at the Willow Grove NAS.
