Thunderstorms with heavy rain fell across northern parts of Lehigh County and caused some ponding of water in poor drianage locations. Storm totals included 3.22 inches in Shankweilers (North Whitehall Township), 3.12 inches in Schnecksville (North Whitehall Township) and 2.21 inches in Slatington.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain caused poor drainage flooding in Whitehall Township. A vehicle became partially submerged at the intersection of Mickley Road and Pennsylvania State Route 145. Event precipitation totals included 1.19 inches at the Lehigh Valley International Airport.
Clogged catch basins and heavy rain from thunderstorms caused flooding at a South Mall intersection in Allentown on the evening of the 31st. Doppler Radar storm total estimates reached 1.5 inches. The flooding occurred at the intersection of 31st Street S.W. and Lehigh Street. Two motorists were stranded at the intersection and were rescued. Firefighters cleared the debris clogged drains which helped clear the intersection.
