Heavy rain produced flash flooding just south of Chambersburg along Interstate 81 between mile markers 10 and 13. The northbound lane at the Lighthouse Road overpass was covered by four inches of water. Eight residents were displaced due to flooding in Chambersburg Borough along Falling Spring Road. A partial foundation collapse occurred to a home on Country Road in Guilford Township. Nearly five inches of rainfall was reported in Scotland between 330 and 600 pm EDT.
Persistent heavy rain from slow-moving thunderstorms produced flash flooding in west-central Franklin County. Numerous roads were closed in Peters, Hamilton and Letterkenny Townships. Several cars and recreational vehicles were submerged in flood waters of 5 feet or more at the Twin Bridge Meadow Family campground near Chambersburg, where at least 10-15 campers were rescued after being stranded. A wall collapse occurred at a residence in St. Thomas Township due to the flooding.
Intense rainfall brought flash flooding to the Chambersburg area. Several roads were closed and one water rescue was performed in which two people were trapped in flash flood waters in Chambersburg. The pair attempted to drive through a flooded area of Commerce Drive in Hamilton Township when they became stuck in water that covered the hood. They were rescued without injury.
