Strong winds snapped a tree limb at the Jamestown Campground inside Pymatuning State Park. A 48 year old male camper who had taken shelter under a canopy at his campsite was killed by the falling limb. The camper's 10 year old son was also injured. The son was transported to a local hospital and was treated and released. Many other trees were reported downed in the state park.
A damaging line of severe thunderstorms packing estimated winds of 60 to 85 mph moved across the county knocking down as many as 1000 trees. The majority of the damage occurred along a path from near Linesville to Harmonsburg to Meadville. Approximately one half of the county lost power. A total of 41 homes were damaged in Harmonsburg with 18 homes damaged in Linesville and an additional 3 homes damaged in Pinesville Township. The roof of a factory in Linesville was also blown off. Many cars were damaged by fallen trees.
A 75 mph thunderstorm wind gust was measured at Conneautville. Over a thousand trees were downed in the county. The worst damage was in the central portion of the county with at least 13 homes damaged by fallen trees in Vernon, West Mead, East Mead and Randolph Townships. A few other homes and businesses were damaged elsewhere in the county.
