Heavy thunderstorm rains led to widespread flooding across Butler County. The Little Buffalo Creek and small tributary streams of the Connoquenessing River went out of their banks. About 100 basements flooded throughout the county. Several roads were also flooded.
At 1020 PM EDT, pond and creek flooding was reported along Ekastown Rd. At 1130 PM on 17th, Freedom Rd flooded 3 miles west of Mars. In total, 38 roads flooded in Penn Twp. Basements were flooded and lawn furniture was washed away. Flood waters trapped 1 family inside their home; one person was trapped in a vehicle. The water covered her lap before she was rescued.
Sullivan Run in Butler, PA went out of its banks due to heavy rainfall. In a short amount of time, Butler County EMS and Media reported flooding at the intersection of West Jefferson and West Cunningham Street. Flooding due to Sullivan Run also occurred at the intersection of West Brady Street and Hayes Ave; additional nearby streets also impacted. Multiple cars stuck and at least one basement was flooded. Pictures suggest at least 1 foot of water over the roadways.
