Quarter size hail was reported by a Skywarn Spotter in Fleetwood Borough. Lightning strikes caused about 2,000 homes and businesses to lose power in Berks County that evening across ten municipalities including Fleetwood.
A severe thunderstorm dropped hail as large as tennis balls in Wyomissing. Not only did it damage vehicles, but it also shattered several skylights at the Berkshire Mall. Among the damaged vehicles were two police department cars that were no longer usable. No serious injuries were reported.
Very large hail fell along the U.S. Route 222 corridor from Blandon northeast through Kutztown. Hail as large as golf balls was reported and damaged some vehicles. Quarter size hail was specifically reported from Fleetwood.
