Thunderstorm downburst winds estimated to be up to 80 mph downed dozens of trees, utility poles and large limbs across the northern third to half of Trumbull County. The damage was most concentrated in the West Farmington and Bloomfield areas. Two large buildings were leveled near West Farmington with roofing debris found over a third of a mile away. Other homes and buildings in northern Trumbull County sustained damage, mainly from lost roofing or siding. Widespread power outages were reported across northern Trumbull County. It took a couple of days for power to be fully restored.
Thunderstorm downburst winds caused considerable damage at a mobile park along State Route 193 in Liberty Township just to the north of the Mahoning County line. Three mobile homes were destroyed and 17 others damaged. A 40 year man sustained a broken arm when his mobile home was overturned. Dozens of trees were downed in the area. Many vehicles were also damaged.
A large thunderstorm moved across the eastern suburbs of Cleveland to the Pennsylvania border producing winds in excess of 70 mph at times. Winds were measured at 60 mph in downtown Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), 63 mph at Cuyahoga County Airport and 69 mph in Willoughby (Lake). Numerous trees were uprooted, some on power lines, some severely damaging cars and buildings. Many roads were blocked by debris. In Geauga County a greenhouse was destroyed and a trailer overturned. In Kinsman (Trumbull) a pickup truck was crushed by a large falling tree but the driver was unhurt. A 44 year-old Euclid (Cuyahoga) woman was killed near her home as she walked through an area with extensive debris and came into contact with a concealed downed power line. Power was out in some areas for up to 24 hours.
