A strong cold front pushed through eastern North Carolina downing trees and power lines throughout the region. In Pactolus a poplar tree 28 inches in diameter fell through a mobile home narrowly missing the occupant. An oak tree four feet in diameter fell through a house in Sampson. In Martin County, parts of a tobacco barn blew across Highway 903 and hit a mobile home. Nearby a two-story barn was blown off its foundation. ASOS reported a wind gust to 50 knots in New Bern while an AWOS site on Ocracoke Island reported a 67 knot gust. A tree fell into a kitchen in Pollocksville injuring two people. Just south of Winterville a 500-gallon propane tank was blown over and began leaking. In Beaufort a yacht broke loose from its moorings and was blown onto Front Street.
