The melting of a deep snowpack led to moderate or higher river flooding across portions of the upper Hudson River basin, including the Great Sacandaga Lake, and the Hudson River between Schuylerville and Mechanicville.||Snow water equivalents of nearly one foot began to melt during a warm period beginning around April 10th, and led to river flooding which persisted through the end of April.||On the Hudson River near Schuylerville, a sod farm suffered estimated losses of $225,000 due to prolonged submersion of sod in Hudson River flood waters. In addition, the New York State Canal Corporation was unable to open the Hudson-Champlain Canal in April due to high water levels. Furthermore, the crest of the Great Sacandaga Lake level was a new record.
A local news station reporter was seen reporting from Riverview Road in the town of Halfmoon in Saratoga County on the evening of March 9th. In their report, they stated that Riverview Road was closed near Boyack Road in Halfmoon. Here, water from a small stream stemming off the Mohawk River was overrunning a low point in the road, causing the closure. According to the report, water was beginning to recede just before 7 PM when it had, just an hour prior, been rather high.
The Hudson River at Schuylerville exceeded its flood stage of 90.0 feet at 2:30 PM EST on November 17th, crested at 90.7 feet at 7 AM EST on November 20th, before dropping back below flood stage at 8:20 PM EST on November 20th.
