A severe thunderstorm produced widespread hail and torrential rains over central and northern Sierra County. Hail to three inches deep covered the ground northeast of Truth or Consequences. Nickel-size hail and gusts to 50 mph were measured at the Truth or Consequences Airport. Several rural road bridges and low crossings were washed out by heavy rain.
